What is a Pet Super Adoption? No More Homeless Pets in Utah holds two Pet Super Adoption events each year-one in early May and one in September. These are three day adoption events (Fri-Sun) and typically over 25 rescue groups and shelters from all over Utah participate. There are usually over 800 dogs and cats available for adoption at each event. Between 8,000-10,000 people visit each adoption event and over 350 animals are adopted out during each adoption weekend. Often participating shelters are able clear out their shelters during these very important weekends. Each Super Adoption typically has a theme. This year’s spring event is: Paw it Forward, adopt from a shelter or rescue and save a life.

Dr. Cox, Cottonwood Animal Hospital
This is our wonderful Dr. Cox! Rocky went in yesterday for his post surgery check up. Dr. Cox removed his stitches and said he is looking and doing great! We are so thankful that we ended up with one of the best vets in the state to take care of our Rock. This is now our permanent Dr. for the babies. He's gonna love Bella! ... LOL :0) Jeff and I highly recommend him to everyone who truly cares for their pet's health and well being. What an awesome Doc!!!

Last night, Elise and I saw Rocky start to use his right leg, and paw. Until then he had been dragging it with his toe curled under. This morning when I took him outside (to go potty) he was trotting all over, he even ventured out into the back yard. Wow, we are finally relieved! Our rocker buddy is walking again! Well, we better not get to excited yet he still has alot of therapy, and healing to do. Kaia is on guard watching out for Rocky, but she is mellowing out a little. Thanks for all the support. Love ya'll!!! Jeffrey

Rocky is HOME!!
Amazingly enough, Rocky is home! Dr. Law said as long as he is careful, he could come home. He's doing great, kinda stinky... lol : ) but other than that he and the rest of the family are very very happy. Yay Rocky!

Rocky Lane
What a scary roller coaster of a weekend for us! Friday evening, Rocky and Kaia were running and playing in the front yard as usual, when out of nowhere, Rocky fell on his back and started crying! Jeff rushed him to the Pet ER at Cottonwood Animal Hospital where we were told that Rocky is paralyzed. OMG! I know! So hard to take in and accept. Poor Rock! We went home that evening and started researching all of the possibilities and reading blogs from other people who had gone through this same thing. Saturday morning came and we decided to have an MRI done at the U. The MRI confirmed that he had Canine Intervertebral Disc Disease (IVDD) http://www.vetmed.wsu.edu/ClientED/ivd.aspx The disease is most commonly seen in little dogs, like Dachshunds and beagles.
We were relieved to find out what it was and that surgery could fix it. The surgery would release the pinching on his spinal cord which was causing the paralysis. Rocky went in for emergency back surgery Saturday night at 10:30 p.m. The surgery was completed by 1 a.m. The pics above are as of last night, we are so happy to say that he is recovering quickly and is in high spirits! Rocky will go through some intense therapy to re-train him how to walk. http://www.k-9rehab.com/techniques.html We can start this as soon as his stitches are out, hopefully within the next week or so.
Thank you all for your love and support and most of all your prayers for our family during this time.
